Thank you for your understanding and support. At PAWS-PATAS, the largest charity of its kind in the area, we are run entirely by dedicated volunteers and operate with limited resources. As a result, the majority of our time is focused on providing essential care and support to those who rely on our services.

We kindly ask that you explore our website thoroughly before contacting us, as many common questions are answered there. This allows us to manage our time more efficiently and continue offering the best possible service.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Adoption

Thinking about giving a dog a forever home?

Click here to find out everything you need to know about adopting from PAWS-PATAS – including the dogs currently available, the adoption process, associated costs, and the agreement you’ll enter into with us.

Adopting a dog is a long-term commitment, and we’re here to help you decide if it’s the right step for you and your lifestyle.

Looking for a specific type of dog?

Tell us what you’re looking for – breed, size, temperament or sex – and we’ll match your preferences against all new arrivals.

Most of our dogs are mixed breeds, with Podencos and Galgos making up the next largest group. Other breeds such as Pointers, Mastins and Affenpinschers also come in from time to time.
Set your criteria and choose how long you’d like the system to keep checking for a match.

Volunteer with us

Make an impact on an animal’s life

At PAWS-PATAS, we believe every animal deserves love, care, and a second chance. But we can’t do it alone—your support is essential to help us provide the best care for every animal in our shelter.

Every moment you spend with us brings these animals one step closer to a new life. Whether it’s a walk, a cuddle, or just a few hours of your time, your help makes a difference.

We’d love to have you on our team! Sign up to volunteer today and make a lasting impact on the lives of animals in need.

Fostering

give an animal a second chance

At PAWS-PATAS, about 40% of our animals are in foster care. Fostering provides a temporary, loving home for animals in need, such as:

  • Dogs Who Don’t Thrive in Kennels: Some dogs need a quieter environment away from the noise of the shelter.

  • Mothers with Puppies: New moms need a secure space to raise their litters.

  • Puppies Needing Bottle-Feeding: Littermates without a nursing mother require extra care and socialization.

  • Dogs with Medical Needs: Some dogs need regular medication or additional care that’s best provided in a foster home.

Fostering makes a huge difference in the lives of animals. If you’re ready to help, we’d love to hear from you!

Surrender

At PAWS-PATAS, we’re grateful that very few dogs are returned to us — a testament to our thorough adoption process and the commitment of our adopters.

However, we understand that circumstances can change unexpectedly. If you or a family member adopted a dog from us and now need to return them, please complete the form below so we can help.

Perhaps you’re the relative of a recently deceased adopter and are unable to care for their pet — we’re here to support you, too.

Need PAWS-PATAS to share a post?

If you’ve lost or found a dog, have a pet up for adoption, or need to share anything non-commercial related to animals, we’re here to help!

Send us the details, and we’ll post it on our social media to help spread the word.

Admission

Our new protocol

Helping us help animals

At PAWS-PATAS, we’re working to improve how we manage animal admissions—safely and responsibly. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Our fundraising outlets can’t accept animals—volunteers there aren’t equipped for intake.

  • The shelter may not always have senior staff available to receive animals immediately.

  • All new arrivals go into foster care or quarantine until they test negative for infectious diseases.

  • This is to protect the animals already in our care.

What you can do

  • Fill out the form below to give us the info we need.
  • We’ll arrange safe transfer to foster or shelter as soon as possible.

  • Your form helps us log the animal in our system and plan next steps quickly.
